MANASSAS, VA, June 26, 2013 – American Disposal Services is proud to announce the two recipients of their First Annual American Disposal Services Inc. Scholarship. Applications were distributed to all public high schools in Prince William and Fairfax Counties. One winner was chosen from each county.
Winners Aaron Guo and Talia Schmitt each received a $5,000 dollar award from American Disposal Services to apply to their college or university of choice. Applicants were only considered if they were an active member of an environmentally-focused group or committee through their school or community and had completed an environmental science course as part of their studies. A 500-word essay explaining how they helped to protect or promote the preservation of the environment was also required.
